Goals
The general objective is to assist children, prioritizing their basic needs for health, nutrition, physical and emotional development, therefore enabling the formation of critical and conscious citizenship awareness, interacting in a cultural universe of social and family coexistence.
History
The Casa São José (São José Home) was inaugurated in March 23, 2003, and was made possible through the Social Action of the Trinity, with the purpose of providing a space for leisure, culture and education for the families of the community of Serrinha. In this space, the São José Project was created, which emerged with the objective of assisting children older than 6 years of age, from the Creche São Franciso de Assis (St. Francis of Assisi Daycare Center), in this manner continuing the work developed in that establishment. The community assisted by the Casa São José is basically made up of families with low income, which have only their will to work, and only this, to rely on. Most have no professional qualification and have little chance in the formal job market. The origin of these families is very diverse, in the majority made up of individuals form the sierra region of Santa Catarina and from the northeastern states. The high turnover rates of residents in the region and the absence of collective leisure and culture equipments are characteristics of this community, and denote the lack of cultural identity of this communitary integration, and therefore individual interests prevail over collective actions. Regarding the educators (loaned by the city hall), we believe that it is of utmost importance that they plan their educational actions based on the respect and knowledge of the development stages and limitations of the children. In this sense, we planned some actions that should permeate the daily routine in the classrooms: Story time; Computer lessons; Sports and leisure; The socialization of knowledge; Artistic production and construction; Group projects; Play time; Surprise Box; Educational support for class work; Recreation; Classroom activity; Book of Live; Cooking; Movie time.
